The owning household gets the event email. If the birthday person has an address on file, they get a personal greeting.
Email reminders
The email isn't an add-on. It's the point.
The weekly roundup lists upcoming family occasions. On the day of a birthday or other event, the portal sends an email to the household; a birthday person can get their own congratulations. Admins can preview and edit the email templates, and send a one-time email for a simcha or another family occasion.
Families can choose their notification preferences, and automatic email can be turned off for a main family.
